Yule Simmer Pot

Yule is celebrated on the shortest day of the year, Winter Solstice, and marks our return into the warmth of the light. In my household, we have a gathering of friends & family over the Yule log (last year’s Christmas tree trunk), drink some mulled cider, toss pinecone wishes into the fire and finish with a feast.

This year I’m also going to have a simmer pot going, and you can too, even if you don’t do all that other stuff.

Yule Simmer Pot

Mint (for prosperity and abundance)

Pine (for rebirth and resilience)

Nutmeg (for health & good luck)

Orange (for joy and prosperity)

Cloves (for protection and luck)

All ingredients can be fresh or dried. Fill a pot 1/2-3/4 full with water, add the ingredients, and set to simmer for a few hours (don’t let it boil dry!).

You could also include rosemary, for purification, though it tends to overpower all the other scents.

Blessed Yule!
